Congratulations to the Thunderbird U14 AAA team on Pittsburgh Super Series win
The Colorado Thunderbirds Bantam AAA team won the Pittsburgh Super Series on October 17 defeating the Pittsburgh Elite Team 3-0 in the championship game. The Pittsburgh team was coached by NHL hall of famer, Mario Lemieux. The T-Birds went 4-2 on the weekend, defeating Tampa Bay 4-1, NPI 8-1, and Phoenix 2-0; while losing to the Dallas Stars 2-0 and Pittsburgh 5-1 during the preliminary round.
The T-Birds were led by Tanner Smith and Freddie Olofsson who had 8 points each. From a plus/minus standpoint, the T-Birds were led by Brandon Carlo (+7), Logan Fauber (+6) and Scott Eansor (+6). During the final day of the tournament, Cale Morris recorded a shutout against Phoenix facing 19 shots and Danny Mumaugh recorded a shutout against Pittsburgh facing 25 shots. The game-winning goals against Phoenix and Pittsburgh were scored by Mike Eyssimont and Brock Stashick. The T-Bird having the greatest impact was Mason Peterson with tenacious forechecking, backchecking and superb penalty killing.
The T-Birds next head to Chicago for the Nike Bauer Tournament, November 4 – 7.
